Built on more than two decades of industry experience, the group brings together deep process engineering expertise with technical content development, training, and practical knowledge products for the water sector
The group consists of WATEN Process Engineering (Pty) and WATEN – Water and Energy Technical Writing Services (Pty). Together, they support clients through engineering solutions, technical communication, industry-focused educational resources, and training that help improve wastewater management performance and unlock circular economy opportunities.
Founded by Karabo Nthethe, PrEng, WATEN is led by a professional engineer with over twenty years of experience in wastewater treatment infrastructure planning, process engineering, project leadership, and innovation. His background includes senior roles in multidisciplinary teams and major wastewater infrastructure planning and upgrading programmes
At WATEN, we believe wastewater should be managed not only for compliance, but as a resource stream with potential for reuse, recovery, sustainability, and long-term value.
